Active Anti

Discrimination Training Programme: Creating a Culture of Change Across Gloucester

This programme is designed to transform how agencies and organisations working with young people across the city approach discrimination. By aligning on actively anti-discriminatory practices, this initiative will foster a unified approach to combating various forms of prejudice, ensuring inclusivity and safety for all. The training will be applied and adapted to different contexts, enabling organisations to uphold these values in every facet of their work, creating a lasting cultural shift.

The first workshop in this series, Anti-Misogyny and Radicalisation, was led by Lewis Wedlock, a social psychologist and activist. This interactive session explored:

  1. How masculinities are radicalised into "alpha" or "red pill" frameworks, examining the causes and conditions.

  2. How we can engage young men using reflective tools and compassionate questioning to broaden their understanding of masculinity.

  3. Processes that support individuals in rediscovering positive aspects of their masculinity.

Through this workshop, participants explored structural dynamics and learned practical communication techniques to implement in their work with young men. This marks the beginning of a commitment to creating safe, uplifting, and supportive spaces that foster real understanding and attitude change.
